DIETs Bageshwar acts as a district-level academic and nodal institution guiding all school and teacher education efforts with in the district. The Institute functions with substantial institutional autonomy in planning and executing its mandate, with guidance and support from SCERT Uttarakhand and the Directorate of Academic Research and Training. Their overarching focus will be on ensuring the quality of school education, in-service, and preservice teacher education with a strong outcome orientation. District Education and Training Institute (DIET) Bageshwar was established as District Resource Centre (DRC) Bageshwar in April 2006 with the objective of training and academic support in the area of pre-primary education (ECCE) to Sr. Secondary education within the district. Since its establishment, the institute has been successfully taking the responsibility of monitoring and academic support in the field of pre-primary education (ECCE) to Sr. Secondary education. District Resource Center Bageshwar was upgraded as District Education and Training Institute by the Uttarakhand government vide number 472 / XXIV-3/13/04 (65) 2005 Dated 26 June 2013. The main function is to conceptualize, plan, and ensure delivery of quality education to all children from Pre-school to XII standard through framing of curriculum, syllabus design, textbook preparation, and learning assessment with learner-friendliness. The institute organizes continuous professional development of teachers through pre-service and in-service programs, research and innovation, dissemination and exchange programs in view of NEP 2020. There are a total 100 students, 50 per semester in Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed.)approved by NCTE Delhi at DIET Bageshwar.
